Citation Award
The (IAWP) International Association for Workforce Professionals—Oklahoma Chapter has selected the OSCHRM association as the 2010 winner for the prestigious Citation Award. The association was selected for their support and promotion of workforce development programs in the state of Oklahoma during the calendar year of 2009.
The award was given because of the association and its chapters support of workforce development programs through their monthly chapter meetings throughout the year and during the 2009 State HR Conference. The Oklahoma Chapter will present awards to the association and other winners in other categories during our chapter’s Spring Convention in Durant April 28 – 30th.

Now accepting nominations for the 2010 Oklahoma State HR Excellence Award
The State HR Excellence Award (presented annually at the Oklahoma Human Resources State Conference) is given to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in the field of Human Resource Management. The award signifies a professional who demonstrates the SHRM mission of:
• Build and sustain partnerships with human resource professionals, media, governments, non- governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions to address people management challenges that influence the effectiveness and sustainability of their organizations and communities.
• Provide a community for human resource professionals, media, governments, non- governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions to share expertise and create innovative solutions on people management issues.
• Proactively provide thought leadership, education and research to human resource professionals, media, governments, non-governmental organizations, businesses and academic institutions.
• Serve as an advocate to ensure that policy makers, law makers and regulators are aware of key people concerns facing organizations and the human resource profession.
Candidates should be viewed as role models for the profession, leaders rather than followers, who apply and share their professional expertise and leadership both within and outside of the organization. Help us recognize individuals who have contributed to HR excellence.

State Council Champion
The Oklahoma State Council for Human Resource Management has achieved the “State Council Champions” designation! This special honor recognizes exceptional support for the SHRM Foundation in 2008. The SHRM Foundation is very grateful for the Council's commitment, leadership and generous contributions. OSCHRM will be highlighted on the SHRM Foundation website and in the annual “Honor Roll” brochure which recognizes all 2008 annual campaign contributors.
Oklahoma Excellence in Human Resources Award Winners
2009 - Charles Middleton, PHR
Charles Middleton serves as Small Business Management Coordinator at the Economic Development Center of the Great Plains Technology Center. He works with small business owners and managers to improve business operations and presents seminars and programs to the general public on issues important to small business. His areas of expertise are retail operations, customer service, strategic planning and human resources. Charles graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS in Business Administration. He holds the national certification of PHR and is a member of the local and national Society of Human Resource Management. For twenty-five years, he served as president of the family business, G and G Music Company, a retailer of musical instruments and supplies. His volunteer activities include past board member of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce, former Chairman of the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Redcoat Ambassador committee, former President of the board of directors of Lawton Community Theater, former President of CBITS Division of Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education, and former Vice-President for Cameron Campus Ministry. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer for the Oklahoma State Council for Human Resource Management. He will begin serving in 2010 as Secretary for the Great Plains Chapters – SHRM in Lawton. He serves on the Human Resource Committee of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce. Charles was a graduate of Class X of Leadership Lawton and serves as a Past President on the Board of Directors. He serves as Vice-President, Comanche County Chapter of OSU Alumni Association and is a member of the Leadership Council of the OSU Alumni Association. Charles maintains membership in the local American Legion Post 193, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter and 1st Cav Association. Charles received the Reuben Brown Leadership Award in 2005 from Leadership Lawton-Fort Sill and the Chapter Leadership Award from the Great Plains Chapter of SHRM in 2004. Charles was the Lawton Citizen of the Month for February 2007 as recognized by the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women and Volunteer of the Year for 2006-2007 from the Lawton-Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce. Charles received the 2009 Excellence in HR Management Award from the Oklahoma State Council for Human Resource Management.
